Editorial

When it comes to writing, I’ve done most of it. From quick turnaround news reporting to longform journalism, with a lot of op-eds in the middle, I’ve dabbled in just about everything. I started my full-time professional career in print, working for Stylist Magazine as an editorial assistant, after freelancing my way through university for titles like VICE and THE FADER. In the past decade, I’ve been a broadcast journalist in BBC newsrooms, grabbed national recognition as politics editor at gal-dem magazine and pounded the streets of Glasgow in aid of hyperlocal long-reads for Mill Media.

I’ve written for both the broadsheet and commercial arms of The New York Times, as well as providing regular comment pieces for The Guardian. But I haven’t abandoned my roots; I still contribute to the fashion magazines where I cut my teeth, including British VOGUE, Cosmopolitan and i-D, plus pen pieces for literary journals Kinfolk and Tolka.

It’s difficult to judge what writing to showcase on a website. Do I overload you with all 965 articles Muck Rack currently has listed for me, or post a few key pieces? I’ve decided on the latter approach. Here’s a little taster of some work that demonstrates my range. Oh, and here’s my Substack if you’re looking for something a bit more relaxed.
